About this model
The Majorette model of the Fiat 127 (no. 203) has a reasonably well-established introduction year: 1972.

Here we focus on the miniature: outside of Italian model manufacturers it is quite rare to find replicas of this small car, and for this reason the Majorette version is a welcome exception. It belongs to the golden age of the French brand and was produced in large quantities, although today it is difficult to estimate the production run precisely. In terms of accuracy to the real subject, however, the model is not outstanding: the proportions look a bit squashed and not entirely correct.
The Majorette 127 features opening doors with steel spring, “Fiat 127” script on the rear hatch, partial glazing and a plastic interior. At the rear, the left-hand side window is missing to make room for the silhouette of a dog sticking out: a quirky detail that makes the model fully deserving of the “dog in da car” tag.
The model is in 1/55 scale, with front and rear license plates and suspensions made with a U-shaped metal bar fixed to the base, which holds the wheels in place on rather thin axles.
The same mould was also used for the blister packs of the Majorette 300 series.
From 1974 onwards, the mould of the model was slightly modified: the differences are not immediately obvious, but the change in wheel type and some variations in the body shape make it possible for keen enthusiasts to distinguish fairly easily between pre-1974 examples and later ones, most likely produced with the updated mould.
Production ended in December 1978. From a collecting point of view, the earliest examples are now more sought after and have a noticeably higher value, especially when found in undamaged condition and complete with their original packaging.
