This specific diecast model marks the first Renault 5 ever released by Majorette. Produced between 1973 and 1981, it became a best-seller and was available in various vibrant colors. It featured charming details like black or metallic side mirrors, antennas, and even a sporty Alpine livery. The model was eventually replaced by a five-door version in 1983.
Interestingly, when comparing this original three-door version with the later five-door model, collectors often note the less accurate proportions of the newer casting. Yet, this hasn’t diminished its charm. The original Majorette Renault 5 remains a fan favorite among vintage diecast collectors worldwide.
Although its market value has stayed relatively modest due to high production numbers, there’s been renewed interest recently—especially with the release of the all-new electric Renault 5 in 2024.
