Although Matchbox is now under the Mattel umbrella and shares its manufacturing processes with Hot Wheels, the brand still shines brightest when reproducing classic European die-cast cars—just as it did in its glory days.
The quintessential French automobile, the iconic Citroën 2CV, has been accurately recreated in its popular 1970s version. Even though it remains an affordable toy car, the respect for the vehicle’s real-life proportions is remarkable in every detail.
The only minor drawback is the wheel width: while standard for modern Matchbox models, it feels noticeably too wide compared to the skinny, tall tires that famously motorized France.
