About this model
The Majorette Volkswagen T2 is a classic model from the French toy manufacturer’s lineup. Produced for approximately five years starting in 1976, it can be categorized into two distinct variants—effectively two different castings.
The first is the “Fourgon” version (catalog number 226), which came in liveries such as Hag (a coffee company) and roadwork themes, along with a wide range of custom promotional designs that make it difficult to fully catalog due to the many sponsored editions.
The second variant is the ambulance/police version (catalog number 244), which features side windows and includes a military version as well.
Despite being widely available, this model has always maintained relatively high collector value. This is largely due to Majorette’s commitment to faithfully reproducing the original vehicle—an impressive feat, especially considering that during this era, the brand increasingly targeted children to boost sales.
