Hi Diecastlover,
I have some great news for you! Having known Andrew and Christian from the hobbyDB project for over 3 years, I’ve decided to join them.
hobbyDB aims to catalog every model car, every related item (for example catalogs, dioramas or display cases) and relate them to the corresponding real car. Here’s an example:
It’s a very ambitious project and I hope you’ll be as excited about it as I am. Here are a few of the people who are helping make this project a reality:
All the models you have listed on Diecastlovers will be transferred over to hobbyDB over the next week or two. We’ve already re-created your accounts and started the transfer process. A mail will be sent to you with your account to access in hobbyDB.
Here’s what you need to know:
hobbyDB is a catalog AND a collection management system. While we’re merging in the Diecastlovers data, you’ll find some duplicates in the catalog. We’ll be merging the duplicate items on an ongoing basis and ultimately catalog pages will look like this:
Your collection will look something like this:
Besides model cars, trucks, model kits, dioramas, catalogs, figures etc, there are also 1:1 cars, car-related ads, posters and even car-shaped perfume bottles!
There are a lot more exciting features coming and with a team of 6 working on the site, we can now do so much more than I ever could on my own (especially as I also have a day job!). All that being said please do let me know, if there were any features you really loved on Diecastlovers that are currently missing from hobbyDB and I’ll make sure they get added!
If you have any other feedback on hobbyDB, ideas for features that we didn’t have or need help, just send an email to diecastlovers@hobbyDB.com and one of us will come right back to you.
Greetings,
Fabio
